Fujairah: A 29-year-old man died on Thursday night when his car overturned near Difta area on the Masafi-Fujairah road.

Emirati, W.A.R., was travelling from Abu Dhabi to Khor Fakkan when his car swerved suddenly before rolling over and ending up-side down on the road.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance crew and his body was later taken to Fujairah Hospital morgue, before it was handed over to his family.

Police from Masafi rushed to the scene of the accident, which had briefly caused traffic to be halted.

Police said speeding is among the main causes of fatal accidents in the country. Police officials said youth need to be aware of the dangers of speeding especially on mountainous eastern region.

Campaigns targeting youngsters have been periodically undertaken by police and traffic authorities in all the emirates to curtail the number of fatal accidents.
