Dubai: Police rescued a man who needed urgent medical attention after falling sick on a cruise ship near Palm Deira.

Dubai Police's Air Wing Department air lifted the man to Rashid Hospital from the cruise ship on Friday.

Colonel Pilot Abdullah Al Shehi, director of the department, said Dubai Police's Operations Room received a call seeking help.

Captain Pilot Ali Al Muhairi and Captain Pilot Eisam Bin Hafez led a medical team from Dubai Ambulance Services Centre to the cruise ship.

Colonel Al Shehi said there was no helipad on the cruise ship, which prompted the pilots to land on a carrier that transfers rocks to the island, which was near the ship.

The air wing took the victim to Rashid Hospital for treatment.
