Dubai: London Police continue to sift through forensic clues lifted from the scene of a violent hammer attack on three Emirati sisters at a central London hotel.

When contacted by Gulf News on Thursday, the London Metropolitan Police confirmed that four people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and handling stolen goods remain behind bars awaiting the outcome of the criminal probe.

“The four persons arrested remain in police custody and are currently being questioned by our detectives,” said a representative from the press bureau of the London Metropolitan Police.

Three men, aged 32, 34, and 56, and one woman, 31, were arrested at addresses in Islington between 7pm and 9pm local time, on suspicion of attempted murder and handling stolen goods.

While police continue their investigations, the press office at the Cumberland Hotel told Gulf News that the rooms in which the bloody hammer attack took place remain sealed until further notice while forensic experts look for more evidence.

The attacker left the weapon inside a rubbish bin at the hotel as he fled the scene.

Meanwhile, the victims’ family members remained tight-lipped and refused to reveal any information about the women’s recovery.

The three sisters, Uhoud, 34, Kholoud, 36, and Fatima, 31, were attacked by a man in their hotel room on the seventh floor on April 6 at around 2am.

Uhoud remains in critical but stable condition, while her sisters are recuperating after undergoing surgery.

Media outlets on Thursday reported that one of the sisters who was attacked, but is now out of danger, went on social media asking for the public’s prayers to aide her sisters on their path to recovery.

“My sister’s health condition is not good. We seek people’s supplications,” she tweeted.

The case is now being handled locally by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Abu Dhabi Police. “Both authorities are cooperating with Scotland Yard, and decline to release any further information until the investigation has concluded,” said an official at the UAE embassy in London.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said they are closely following the case.

The four-star hotel is located at the Marble Arch near Oxford Street.

Three children and the victims’ brother, 16, and sister, 18, were sleeping in two adjoining rooms at the time but were unharmed.
