Dubai: An investor has denied forging nine cheques amounting to 90 million euros, and using one worth 15 million euros, in association with two shepherds and a visitor, to dupe a businessman in a land deal.

The 34-year-old Sudanese investor, A.A., pleaded innocent to forging and passing the cheques, the amounts of which varied between 10 million and 60 million euros, before a Dubai court on Tuesday.

The Public Prosecution charged A.A. with aiding and abetting another suspect with forging the cheques and handing them to the Emirati businessman in the deal.

The investor, his 36-year-old compatriot C.A., and the two shepherds, Sudanese O.B. and Saudi R.Q., both 44, were charged with attempting to swindle Dh200,000 and 75,000 euros from the businessman. The four were charged with deceiving the businessman.
