Dubai: A court has confirmed the death by capital punishment sentence of two Indian men convicted of the premeditated murder of an executive.

The men stole the man's wallet and left his body in his car.

"The Dubai Appeals Court has unanimously approved the death sentence against the two convicts, 31-year-old driver C.S. and 23-year-old T.A.," said Presiding Judge Mustafa Al Shennawi said in courtroom 20 on Tuesday.

The judge said the three-judge panel had rejected the convicts' plea to reduce their punishment, and unanimously confirmed the primary judgment, the death sentence.

The panel also affirmed the conviction for premeditated murder associated with theft.

Prosecutors accused the defendants of planning to kill Indian sales executive Y.A., and stealing his wallet and mobile phone.

The Dubai Court of First Instance ruled that the accused carried out the crime in cold blood.

Yesterday's judgment is still subject to appeal before the Cassation Court within 30 days.

According to the chargesheet, prosecutors said the defendants murdered Y.A. after waiting for him at Dubai International Airport's parking area.

Records said when Y.A. sat in his car, C.S. jumped into the back seat and held him by the hair while T.A. sat in the front passenger seat and immobilised the victim's arms.

The driver then slit the victim's throat and covered his upper body with a nylon bag and stole his wallet and mobile phone before they fled, leaving the knife in the car.
