Sharjah: The body of a Filipino housemaid was found hanging from a tree inside the compound of her sponsor in Al Nikhalat area of Sharjah on Thursday morning, a Sharjah police official told Gulf News.
The 24-year-old maid, identified as M.S., is believed to have committed suicide , the official said.
The sponsor family discovered the body, which was hanging from a tree inside their garden and reported the incident to police.
They told police they tried to lift up the maid’s body when they saw it around 10am in an attempt to save her life. But their attempt was in vain as she was already dead.
Police and forensic teams went to the scene after receiving information about the incident. They removed the victim’s body and transferred it to Kuwaiti Hospital and then to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.
He added that officials took fingerprints and other details from the scene to investigate the matter.
The case is with Al Hira police station and police investigation is going on.
The official warned the public, especially workers and domestic workers, to stop thinking about ending their lives stressing that it is a criminal act in addition to being against the teachings of Islam. He urged people to be patient and to seek advice from religious scholars whenever they have problems.
