Umm Al Quwain: Motorists will be given a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines until December 5, Umm Al Quwain traffic department announced on Monday.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Obaid Bin Aran, director of the traffic department at Umm Al Quwain Police, said the decision to reduce the traffic fines by 50 per cent is to give motorists a chance to renew their registration and pay the accumulated fines.

The offer will take effect from today (Monday), September 1, until December 5 after the celebration of UAE National Day. Bin Aran urged all motorists to take advantage of this grace period and renew the registration of their vehicles.

The discount in fines applies to all traffic fines of this year, he added.

Umm Al Quwain police offered 50 per cent discount on traffic fines last year as well.

The decision also includes the owners of vehicles who registered cars in other emirates, and are applied to all traffic violations committed only in the emirate.

The vehicle owner can pay fees in any service centre registered in the state, except violations which cannot be paid until their owners refer to Umm Al Quwain traffic department.
