Gang of drug traffickers from Africa held in Dubai
Police arrested an African gang that attempted to traffic more than Dh200,000 worth of heroin via courier to countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.
Dubai: Police arrested two men who attempted to smuggle more than six kilograms of heroin out of Dubai to countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.
A senior official at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said police at Cargo Village at Dubai airport found a package ready to be posted to an African country that contained capsules of heroin weighing 1.142kg.
Police traced the sender and found him at a Dubai hotel apartment. Police arrested two African men, H.M. and M.A., and found heroin capsules weighing 4.458kg. The second suspect had also swallowed 54 capsules with heroin weighing 783.7g.
The suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
