Fujairah: The Appeal Court in Fujairah has sentenced a Bangladeshi man to three months in jail, followed by deportation, for harassing a woman with text messages.

The 26-year-old electrician was accused by a married Emirati woman of harassment, by sending her inappropriate text messages.

After he was arrested by police and investigated by the Fujairah Public Prosecution he was charged with two counts of harassment of the victim and encouraging an immoral behaviour.

The Criminal Court found him guilty of harassment and jailed him for three months.

The electrician was found not guilty of the second charge, but the Public Prosecution appealed that decision.

The Appeal Court rejected the previous not-guilty ruling, but decided to give the convict a deportation order rather than an additional jail time.
