Fujairah Court awards Dh1.8m to accident victims
The Fujairah Civil Court on Monday ordered an insurance firm to pay out Dh1.8 million in compensation to a couple involved in a horrific car accident.
Fujairah: The Fujairah Civil Court on Monday ordered an insurance firm to pay out Dh1.8 million in compensation to a couple involved in a horrific car accident.
The firm was ordered to pay Dh1.5 million to Emirati woman M.A.S., who suffered extensive physical injuries and emotional trauma after the accident.
The injuries to M.A.S., the court heard, caused her permanent disabilities which have prevented her from carrying out her duties, both at home and at work.
Her Emirati husband, M.A., was awarded Dh300,000 for the emotional distress he suffered due to the accident and the legal expenses. The traffic accident happened in 2006 on the Dibba-Towayeen road.
According to the police accident report, the couple were injured when their four-wheel vehicle collided with a heavy truck which tried to overtake their vehicle without properly checking the left lane was clear.
