Four-wheel drive vehicle runs over three pedestrians crossing street in Merbeh
One of the victims was killed instantly and another is fighting for his life in hospital.
Fujairah: One man was killed and another is fighting for his life after a four-wheel drive vehicle ran over three Bangladeshis in Merbeh in Fujairah on Saturday evening. The third person suffered minor injuries, hospital sources said.
The men were attempting to cross a service lane on the Fujairah-Khor Fakkan road when they were hit by the vehicle driven by 23-year-old Emirati M.S.M.
One of the victims died on the spot while the other two were rushed to Khor Fakkan Hospital by police emergency services.
One of the injured men is in a coma and is critical. He has been admitted to the intensive care unit, while a hospital source said the injuries of the third man are not serious. A police source said the men had no identity papers on them.
Every year speeding causes the death of several pedestrians in the emirate, police said and warned motorists to drive carefully.
Crash: Car overturns killing girl
A teenage girl died and her mother sustained severe injuries when their car overturned yesterday in Al Kharis district.
A traffic police official said the car was driven by a Syrian woman, identified as N.M., who was accompanied by her two teenage daughters. The woman lost control of the vehicle while she was negotiating a roundabout.
The car hit the roundabout and then swerved to the side of the road and hit a tree and overturned.
The Rescue and Ambulance Section of the police had to cut open the vehicle to rescue the occupants.
One of the girls, R.M.T., 15, died on the spot while her mother sustained severe injuries. The second daughter, however, was unhurt. The injured has been shifted to Al Ain Hospital.
