Dubai: Four Chinese men have been jailed for three years for undressing a masseuse and taking naked snapshots of her after they kidnapped her along with another masseuse.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the four defendants, aged between 21 and 30 years, although they pleaded not guilty.
Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir said all the accused will be deported after serving their punishment.
Prosecutors charged the quartet, who are all visitors, with kidnapping the two Chinese masseuses from Naif, stealing their money, jewellery and mobile phones and molesting one woman and breaching her modesty by taking indecent photos.
According to the charges sheet, the defendants kidnapped 24-year-old W. Y. and 28-year-old F. C. in their car and took them to their house where they assaulted them and demanded a ransom to free them.
Records said the accused threatened the women with a knife and they undressed F. C. and took indecent pictures of her against her will.
The two masseuses testified that the defendants told them by phone that they would pick them up from Naif and hire them for massages.
"They came in a sports utility vehicle and picked us up from Al Musallah Street.
"The driver claimed that he took a shortcut when I asked him why he changed his direction…
"They blindfolded us and beat us as well... We were taken to a villa located nearly 50 minutes outside Dubai. They demanded that we pay Dh100,000 in ransom," F. C. said.
The primary judgement is still subject to appeal within 15 days.
