Four Bangladeshi nationals stood trial this week on charges of holding S.A., 26, against her will and forcing her into prostitution.

The suspects — a worker, a farmer, a driver and an unemployed man — took advantage of the poor health of the woman's mother and lured her into coming to the UAE so that she could find a job.

However, when she arrived here, she was locked up in a house at Hor Al Anz and forced to have sex with men for money. She was also taken to four other apartments for the same purpose. However, she escaped from the last apartment after stealing the keys from the watchman when he fell asleep.

She then lodged a complaint at the Al Muraqqabat Police station. The next hearing is on January 23.

21 arrested: Obscene Party

Twenty-one people, including off-duty police officers and four women, were arrested at an obscene party at a villa in Al Rashidiya when an anonymous caller tipped off the Rashidiya Police Station.

The suspects were accused of incitement to commit sin and illegal possession and consumption of alcohol.

They were also charged with possession and distribution of pornographic material.

The four female suspects will be, however, charged separately.

The case will be heard on January 16.

Policeman charged: Cell phone theft

A policeman at Dubai Police's Anti-Narcotic Department stood trial on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a Moroccan detainee's safe.

A colleague of M.A., the 19-year-old suspect, noted that the mobile phone was missing from the safe when he was ordered to return it to the Moroccan detainee.

The mobile phone, which costs around Dh200, was later found in the possession of M.A., who later confessed to having taken it. A verdict is expected on January 12.

Harassment case: Lewd Messages

A.A., a 35-year-old Ras Al Khaimah police staff sergeant, has been accused of harassing M.A., a 45-year-old housewife, on the mobile phone by sending her pornographic images.

The suspect, A.A., allegedly called the victim's phone in 2009 by mistake.

When she told him it was a wrong number, he allegedly continued to call her on a daily basis. When she ignored the calls, he began to send her pornographic images. Etisalat records confirmed the calls and text messages sent from the suspect's phone to M.A.'s number.

The next hearing is on January 10.
