Dubai:The body of a 27-year-old Filipino Muslim maid, which has been in a Sharjah morgue for almost three months, will finally be making its way home tomorrow.

Gulf News highlighted the story of Noraida Ayunan on Tuesday, who died on February 6 after falling from a balcony in Sharjah. Her body has been in the morgue, while Philippine Consulate officials sought funds from her sponsor to repatriate her body.

Although the sponsor provided the funds on Sunday, officials feared the Dh6,000 would not be enough to send the body all the way to Cotabato, which is close to her parents' village in Mindanao.

Vanjo Andig, a Filipino-Muslim community leader involved in her case said, "The airline accepted whatever funds we had and forgave the rest of the cost."
