Dubai: A housemaid has been jailed for pocketing money from the trousers of her sponsor when he was exercising at the gym.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 35-year-old Filipina housemaid, N.M., to three months in jail. She will be deported after serving her jail term.
The accused pleaded guilty and confessed that she stole Dh200 but the Public Prosecution charged her with stealing Dh14,240 from her British sponsor, J.T., over a period of time.
The court heard the sponsor as saying that the maid began stealing money as soon as she arrived at the house.
