Family wins case against Fujairah businessman
The Fujairah Commercial Dispute Appeal Court has ordered a man to pay the family of his deceased business partner the sum of Dh474,512 and meet the costs of the legal case.
Fujairah: The Fujairah Commercial Dispute Appeal Court has ordered a man to pay the family of his deceased business partner the sum of Dh474,512 and meet the costs of the legal case.
The awarded figure represents the family's inherited share of the company which both men co-owned.
A.H.A. and H.A.A. took legal action against their father's business partner, A.H.A., after the latter reneged on a previous mutual agreement to dissolve their co-owned company and/or pay them their inherited share of investment.
The settlement, which should have been finalised within six months, was not honoured as the company went into debt due to bad management by the co-owner, the family argued.
Lawyers for the family also argued that A.H.A had secretly set up a rival company in his son's name, thus contributing to the company's poor performance.
