Expat gets life sentence for raping relative
The Criminal Court has sentenced an Indian expatriate to life imprisonment for raping his sister-in-law's sister.
Ras Al Khaimah: The Criminal Court has sentenced an Indian expatriate to life imprisonment for raping his sister-in-law's sister.
A senior court official confirmed the suspect had been slapped with a life term.
He said that the victim approached the police lodging a complaint that she had been raped by a relative.
The woman said the suspect had entered her home as she slept, while her husband was outside.
The man tied her to the bed and raped her several times before leaving.
When the woman's husband returned, he found her still tied to the bed. The couple then reported the matter to the police.
The suspect, however, denied all charges, claiming he had never been to the victim's house.
Investigations uncovered the suspect's fingerprints on the bed and medical tests clearly proved that the woman had been raped.
Charges were later pressed by the Public Prosecution, and the case was heard by the Criminal Court.
