Sharjah: A woman left shoppers at a Sharjah mall terrified on Saturday after ploughing her car into at least three other vehicles following an altercation with her husband.
The incident happened after the Arab woman, believed to be in her late 20s, got into an argument with her husband, left him at the mall and sped off in her car.
Police are looking for the woman, who then crashed into three cars as she left the mall.
The woman raced through the mall’s parking lot on Saturday evening, smashing into two cars inside the mall and one outside, an official at Sharjah police told Gulf News.
Shoppers trying to get back into their cars were left terrified as the woman randomly crashed into other vehicles in the parking lot.
The incident took place at around 10pm when the Arab couple went shopping at the mall in Sharjah.
A verbal dispute broke out between the pair which ended in the angry woman leaving her husband at the mall and speeding off in her Nissan Altima.
Police sources said the couple had argued because the woman wanted to “buy many things” and her husband had objected. Officials confirmed that the woman then drove away recklessly from the parking area of the mall, even colliding with a taxi on the way out.
She then fled the scene as police were called in. Police officers arrested the woman’s husband after finding that she had fled the scene.
The man admitted that he had argued with his wife and that she had left the mall in a huff.
Witnesses at the mall told Gulf News they were mortified by the woman’s reckless driving, which looked like “something from a movie”.
People spoke of how they feared if their own cars would be next in the line of the irate woman or if they would even be able to get to their cars without being mowed down.
Police officials urged people to avoid such reckless behaviour when at the wheel. They urged the public to avoid driving vehicles at high speed inside parking lots as this endangers the lives of others. Sharjah police have launched an investigation into the incident
