Employee's suspicion leads to arrest of gang in Dubai
The suspicion of a courier company employee helped to bust an operation involving forged documents.
Dubai: The suspicion of a courier company employee helped to bust an operation involving forged documents.
An Asian suspect entered an Empost office in Al Rumool, identified himself as a Gulf national, and requested for his credit card package, said the police.
When the Empost staff asked the suspect whether he saw the package being brought in, the suspect immediately denied and said he was just checking, said the police.
The employees got suspicious and alerted the bank, which advised him to notify them if the suspect returns. The bank contacted the owner of the credit card, who denied visiting any Empost office.
The bank notified the Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police about the matter and arrested the suspect on June 7, when he revisited the Empost office.
"The integrity and work ethics of the Empost employee led to the fall of the crime pyramid,'' said Colonel Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police found with the suspect driving licence issued from Sharjah in the name of the real owner of the credit card, but with his photo attached to it. The suspect confessed that he received the forged documents from two other Asians.
Police found many forged salary certificates and credit cards with the two other suspects. They confessed that they received the information about the owner of the credit card from an insider working at a foreign bank in the country.
The suspected employee at the foreign bank confessed to the police of leaking vital and confidential information to the suspects.
Further investigations led to the involvement of two other partners in the criminal operation. All the suspects were arrested and referred to the public prosecution.
