Ras Al Khaimah: Al Hubous Heritage Association on Thursday honoured an Emirati man for saving a six-year-old Pakistani girl from being raped at knife point in a dilapidated house at a remote area here.
Sultan Bin Alwan Al Hebsi, the association director, said that Mohammad Al Sa'adi was honoured for his heroic act and the sacrifice he made to save the little girl.
He said Al Sa'adi put his life on the line for a humanitarian cause and deserved to be honoured.
Al Sa'adi said he acted on humanitarian grounds after he heard the little girl's cries for help when he stepped down from his vehicle. He then rushed to rescue her from the clutches of her abductor.
He said he saw the suspect carrying the girl and trying to gag her with one hand and holding a knife in the other hand.
Al Sa'adi said he attacked the suspect with his full power. The suspect tried to stab him but Al Sa'adi said he managed to dodge him and pulled the little girl away from his arms. Carrying the little girl with him, he said, he ran to safety.
The suspect however managed to escape, he said.
Al Sa'adi then found the girl's father who was searching for her. The girl's family were overjoyed when she was returned to them. The girl's father refused to file a police complaint claiming that such a move would damage his family's reputation.
The RAK Police are aware of the case and Major General Shaikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chief of RAK Police, has issued strict instructions to hunt for the suspect.
