Electrician jailed for bathroom video
Electrician set up camera to record images of undressed woman
Dubai: An electrician faces six months in jail for placing his mobile phone in the washroom and secretly taking images of an undressed woman using the toilet.
The Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday convicted the 23-year-old Filipino electrician of sexually molesting another Filipino woman and breaching her modesty and privacy by taking secret photos of her when she used the washroom.
Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad, who pronounced Thursday's ruling, said the accused, A.C. will be deported after serving his prison term.
"I am guilty… I fixed my mobile phone on the video mode and secretly took footage of her while she used the toilet," said A.C. when he appeared in court.
Intentional
According to the arraignment sheet, A.C. intentionally placed his mobile phone in the laundry basket and positioned it towards the washroom so he could take naked images of the 25-year-old while bathing or using the toilet. The Filipina woman testified that she spotted a flash memory near the toothbrush and toothpaste in the washroom.
"I took it with me and opened it on my laptop. There were three photos of the suspect. There was also a video file which was saved under my name. When I clicked on the video file, the footage clearly showed A.C. placing his mobile phone on the video mode and putting it in the laundry box. Then I appeared undressing and using the toilet in the footage as well," the Filipina said.
