Dubai: A worker has twice admitted that he possessed marijuana for trading purposes shocking the court on Monday.
"I possessed the marijuana pouches for trafficking purposes," said the 23-year-old Bangladeshi worker before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
Prosecutors charged 23-year-old S.H. and his 32-year-old compatriot, N.A. with possessing the drug for trafficking purposes.
According to the chargesheet, S.H. was charged with possessing 11 pouches and a green piece of marijuana weighing, collectively, 97.32 grammes for trading purposes. N.A. was charged with possessing 38 pouches and a few pieces weighing around 173 grammes of marijuana for trading purposes.
When S.H. pleaded guilty, Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad asked the court translator to reread the charges against him for second time.
"Yes I possessed the drugs for trading purposes ... I am guilty," said S.H. in courtroom four.
Meanwhile, N.A. pleaded not guilty.
