Dubai: No one is above the law and it was emphasised by the Dubai Police who penalised colleagues for tinting glasses of their cars over the permitted limit.

Dubai Police issued tickets to more than 50 police personnel as part of a crackdown on tinting car windows over the limit.

The campaign at present focuses on the employees at the Dubai Police's General Headquarters who violate the rules of tinting.

Major Saif Al Mazroui, Acting Deputy Director of Dubai Police's Traffic Department, said the aim of the campaign is to alert Dubai Police employees that they have to be role models and abide by the law, as they are the authority that ensures the security and safety of the society.

Major Al Mazroui said the campaign will soon include all the police departments and stations in the emirate.

He said being a part of Dubai Police means abiding by its laws, values and plans. He said if an employee is caught violating traffic rules, his punishment will be bigger than what a civilian gets.

Nice to see that the law is equal to all and passing the message that "Law Makers cannot be Law Breakers". This is one more reason why people love Dubai and under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum this place will be a paradise for people. I would say that this place is the best place to live until you fiddle with the law. The Dubai Police are the best in terms of helping the public. My heartiest congratulations to Dubai Police and team. Keep up the good work and let the world learn from you. All the Best.

This is why Dubai, and indeed the whole of UAE will continue to grow in wealth and in development. The attitude and mentality of a people are more precious than even their physical wealth and resources. This is a lesson to us in Africa, where because of our attitude, we continue to sit on so much wealth but continue to wallow in poverty. I hope my country men in Ghana learn a lesson from such incorruptible acts and positive mentality and attitude, as we continue to discover more oil day in day out in Ghana.

I have never seen Dubai Police taking any action against tinting violators on the road even if the violator is just driving in front of them. Maybe this is a good start.

30% tinted windows are not enough in this sunshine. I think they must at least allow at least 50% because it gets too hot.

I worked in GCC in many countries, I found Dubai police is the best one. The step take in this regard will be a great example for the residents of UAE, to realize that law is above all. Thanks

I am really impressed by Major Al Mazroui statement that "if an employee is caught violating traffic rules, his punishment will be BIGGER than what a civilian gets." Thats why In Dubai nothing is above the law... And I experienced this personally so many time in past years.

I am happy that the Dubai police considers no one above the law, atleast not the employees. Thanks for playing fair. If this is extended seriously for all conditions in Dubai, I think Dubai would be the best place to live.

This makes sense. Law enforcement personnel must be the first ones to follow the law.

What our nation needs is more leaders like Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid who is setting an example that even the so-called Global Leaders have failed to deliver.
