Dubai: Police announced on Friday they have strong proof of the identity of at least one killer of Mahmoud Al Mabhouh.
"We have DNA evidence … from the crime scene. The DNA of the criminals is there," Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, told Al Arabiya TV.
The senior Hamas commander was murdered in his hotel room in Dubai on January 19. Police have so far identified 26 suspects.
Fingerprint evidence from several suspects has provided "100 per cent" proof of the killers' identities, Lt Gen Dahi said, adding that they have "categorical DNA proof on one of the assassins".
Lt Gen Dahi previously said that he is sure Mossad is behind the murder.
He also announced that he will put together an international security team to pursue the suspects, according to Al Bayan. Working through European, Australian and (probably) US diplomatic channels, the Emirati-international task force will commence work tomorrow.
