Dubai Police catch 3 dangerous drug dealers
Men accused of attempting to smuggle in large quantity of narcotics by boat
Three dangerous drug dealers were arrested by Dubai Police and the contraband, which included heroin and opium, seized.
The drug dealers were busted last week on the creek near the area where abras are moored. The drugs were found on one of the boats.
Dubai Anti-Narcotics Department director Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi said yesterday that three drug dealers were arrested in cooperation with Dubai Customs. “The customs patrols were inspecting abras and they were able to find the drugs on one of them,” he said.
He added that the Asian abra operator, identified as Y.K.Z, was among those arrested. The others arrested were A.M.A, 39, who does not have identification papers, and another Asian man J.M.H, 36. The arrests were made as the first accused was attempting to pass on the contraband to the other two.
Major General Al Asmawi said that the accused were under the influence of Tramadol when they were arrested. “They were arrested as they tried to take the drugs from the abra to their car,” he said.
The official said that A.M.A. has a known criminal record in drug dealing and that he is a drug addict who has been jailed many times before.
