Dubai: Dubai Courts Department has become the first courthouse in the Middle East to introduce a new electronic service.

“The e-file system is a new electronic service that DCD has launched and it’s been adopted and is being implemented across the appellate civil courts.

“This initiative, which enables a judge to administer the court proceedings electronically, is the first of its kind in the Middle East, generally, and in the UAE, particularly,” said DCD’s general director Dr Ahmad Bin Hazeem Al Suwaidi.

Chief Judge Eisa Al Sharif, Head of the Dubai Appeals Court, said the e-file service has helped advance DCD’s electronic services.

“The newly adopted initiative has elevated the performance of DCD’s e-services and has sped up the litigation process. The e-file service was firstly launched on a five-month trial period in the Dubai Appeal Civil Court, first chamber. Following its success, the e-file service will be implemented across the rest of the appellate courts within the next few months,” said Chief Judge Al Sharif.

Darwish Musabbeh, Director of Civil Cases’ Administration, said the initiative establishes a comprehensive e-file compatible with the original paper file.

“The e-file helps judges to obtain the required information and/or documents they need for administering the hearings and cases. DCD’s clients can follow up their cases online without going through the hassle of visiting the courts personally, this has been a move that helped increase the satisfaction of our customers,” concluded Musabbeh.
