Driver burnt to death and four injured in separate accidents in Abu Dhabi
Police warn motorists against speeding and careless lane changing.
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Traffic Police warned motorists against speeding and careless lane changing after two major accidents occurred on Sunday morning.
A man was burned to death and four people sustained moderate injuries in two separate accidents, said a senior official.
A Syrian truck driver was burned to death in a horrific accident on Yas Island near Al Raha Beach area on Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, said Captain Fuad Abdullah Ishaq, Head of Investigation and Major Accidents (on highways) at Abu Dhabi Traffic Police.
"His truck caught fire after colliding with another truck". Preliminary investigation suggested that over speeding was the cause of the accident, said Ishaq.
"Although there were speed breakers on the road, it seems, the drivers ignored them"
Meanwhile, four Egyptian men sustained moderate injuries after their car collided with another car. The accident occurred while one car was changing its lane on Airport road, nearby Shaikh Khalifa Bridge, said the official.
The injured were taken to Al Mafraq hospital.
How can people be educated on safe driving? Despite the safety campaigns, why do drivers not pay heed to safety rules? What would be the most effective method to stop motorists from speeding on UAE roads?

Every morning when driving I am getting turned over on the left lane even though police are present. Today a car nearly hit the trunk of my car. A few days ago, a car turned me over on the grass/geen line towards Abu Dhabi arport.

Do what we do in the Denmark and other countries. Use traffic police on motorbikes and stationary cars with cameras. Stop offenders on the spot and handout heavy fines. Educate through the media.

The only way people would be aware of these realities would be by providing them with pictures of accidents with the news.

People should be trained to avoid the simple accidents and they should be taught how to act when these small accidents take place.

In spite of safe driving and safety campaings, most drivers are not following safety rules. I think speeding causing the fatal accidents and effective method of stopping motorist from speeding is installation of radars/cameras along the roads to punish the offenders with the fines.
