Disturbed man stabs his father to death
Police say accused had been receiving psychiatric treatment
In both the murders, which happened in a span of 25 days, kitchen knives were used as a weapon to kill the victims. According to Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Director of Criminal Investigation at Abu Dhabi Police, both suspects were caught soon after the murders. The Arab suspect who stabbed his father to death was transferred to a psychiatric clinic for diagnosis while the GCC national was taken into custody for further investigation.
According to the forensics report, 30-year-old M.A. stabbed his 68-year-old father, A.A., in the heart, at their Tourist Club area home.
Evidence revealed that the Arab suspect showed signs of psychological and mental disturbance which turned him into a killer on the day of the incident, according to Borshid. His family has already taken M.A. to a specialist and he has a medical file in several psychiatric clinics.
The second incident occurred when a 45-year-old-woman, M.A.R., was found dead on the bathroom floor of her Corniche apartment where she was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband with a kitchen knife, according to the police report. Her 47 year-old husband A.A.A. was arrested from the apartment where the body was found.
