Sharjah: Police are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was found dismembered in his apartment during the weekend.

According to a police official, who declined to be named, authorities suspect that the victim is of Arab origin.

Smell

Police said they received a call on Saturday about a foul smell that was coming from an apartment.

When the police entered the premises, they found the body of a male victim charred and dismembered in his apartment, located in Industrial Area 1.

Police then took the body to the Forensic Laboratory at Sharjah Police for further investigation. Several suspects have already been called in for questioning, and police are now intensifying their investigations and leads.

Eyewitnesses told Gulf News that dozens of residents crowded around the area on Saturday as police cordoned off the area.

Commotion

"There was a lot of commotion going on. An entire stretch of the road was cordoned off for a very long time as the police found two suitcases in a truck, which I heard contained two bodies that were chopped up and that some organs were missing," said a resident.

Police refused to comment on whether the bodies were in a suitcase or not, but pointed out that only one body was found and not two.
