Disc jockey caught with marijuana 'forgot drug was in his pocket'
The lawyers of a British disc jockey, standing trial for possessing 2.16 grams of marijuana, have pleaded before a court on Tuesday that their client "forgot the drug was in his pocket".

Dubai: The lawyers of a British disc jockey, standing trial for possessing 2.16 grams of marijuana, have pleaded before a court on Tuesday that their client "forgot the drug was in his pocket".
The Public Prosecution charged the 40-year-old disc jockey with illegally bringing and possessing marijuana for personal use and referred him to the Dubai Court of First Instance.
His lawyers - Mohammad Al Redha of Mohammad Al Redha Advocates and Legal Consultants and Mohammad Al Suwaidi of Al Suwaidi and Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants - presented their defence to Presiding Judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm on Tuesday.
After Tuesday's hearing, Al Redha and Al Suwaidi said they were asked not to give any comments to the media.
According to court sources, the lawyers pleaded: "The suspect forgot that the substance was in his pocket and had no intention of brining it to Dubai ... he brought it here by mistake ... he didn't have any evil motives ..."
The defence lawyers asked the court for leniency "as per articles 96 and 98 of Federal Penal Code", said court sources.
"I did not know the drugs were in my possession," the disc jockey said during his first appearance in court.
The defendant told Judge Bin Sarm earlier that he didn't intend to bring the drugs with him and that he was unaware that it was in his possession.
A verdict will be heard on February 19.
