Dubai: A driver has accused an armed group of ambushing his brother who was delivering a consignment of goods to Iraq's Anbar Province and denied stealing it before a Dubai court on Sunday.

"My brother was scheduled to deliver the consignment of food and clothes when an armed group ambushed him in Al Anbar Province and stole the vehicle. I am innocent and I swear to God that I did not embezzle the Dh800,000 consignment," the 26-year-old Syrian driver, B.S., told the Dubai Court of Misdemeanour.

Ambushed

The Public Prosecution charged the driver with breach of trust and misappropriating the consignment which belonged to 54-year-old Iraqi trader, A.A.

"I did collect the commodities and exported the consignment to Iraq with my brother, O.A.... unluckily he was ambushed and the products were robbed. Then the armed group disappeared," he told the judge.
