Dubai: Police arrested a thief who had sneaked back into the country after being deported earlier for a similar crime.

On November 20, Dubai Police's Control and Command Room received a report of a robbery at a shop in the Al Khawaneej area. An unknown man broke into the shop through the main door, stole cash and fled the scene.

A barbershop owner saw him trying to flee the scene at about 5:30am. He tried to stop him, but the suspect pushed him to the ground. The barbershop owner gave police the description of the suspect and his clothes.

Teams from the Dubai Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) went to the scene, collected evidence and matched the given description with their criminal records.

The CID found out that the suspect had a previous criminal record and had been arrested for a similar crime.

He was sentenced and deported after completing his sentence. He was identified as Mansoor Ali Ahmad from Yemen. The CID set a trap for the suspect and intensified the presence of police patrols around trading areas to catch him.

On November 24, a CID source saw the suspect in the Nad Al Sheba area at about 6pm. Police arrested him and searched him.

Police detained the suspect and referred him to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
