Court reduces amount of blood money
The Fujairah Appeal Court has halved the blood money (diya) and fine for a man convicted of causing the death of another motorist.

The Court of First Instances had previously fined K.S.M, an Arab national, Dh1,000 and ordered him to pay Dh200,000 as diya in financial compensation. This amount has now been halved.
M.J.A. died in November last year after his car was struck from behind by K.S.M.'s car at 120 miles per hour. M.J.A.'s car hit a lamp post which caused his death. K.S.M. admitted causing the death of M.J.A. but denied charges of driving in a reckless manner.
