Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Appeal Court adjourned the hearing of an appeal of a European national to May 2 for charges that include possession of prescription drugs, harassing Abu Dhabi airport employees, yelling curses, and possessing alcohol, according to a report by the Arabic daily Al Ittihad.

 

The court adjourned the hearing to contact border and airport security to acquire security tapes of the incident that took place in the airport reception hall. The court will also call in an expert forensic doctor who will offer a statement on the amount of substances found in the accused man's blood sample.

 

The AD Criminal Court had sentenced the man to four years in prison for taking drugs, one month prison sentence for harassing and cursing an employee, two months in prison and Dh 500 fine for presenting himself in drunken state in public, Dh 1,000 fine for alcohol consumption, and deportation once the punishment is served.

 

The Court of Appeals on Wednesday also adjourned ruling on a case in which an African employee who accidentally caused burn injuries to a child in a nursery using hot water. The African employee was working in the nursery without visa sponsorship, and placed the child in a tub of hot water in an incorrect manner.

 

The court will issue a ruling on the case on April 15.
