Defendant charged with smothering prostitute who said she was tired
Dubai: A cook has denied smothering a prostitute with a pillow after she asked him to stop having sex with her because she felt tired.
Prosecutors accused the 36-year-old Indian suspect, A.B., with the premeditated murder of the 49-year-old Azeri woman, S.A., by stifling her with a pillow and stealing her money and jewellery.
"I am not guilty… I didn't commit the crime," argued the defendant when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.
According to the charges sheet, the suspect placed the pillow on the woman's face and held it down until she suffocated. He was also charged with stealing Dh310, a mobile phone and a gold chain from the Azeri woman.
An Emirati first lieutenant testified that preliminary investigation led to A.B.'s arrest within 24 hours.
"He admitted during questioning that he agreed to have sex with S.A. for Dh200… after the first time she asked him to stop because she was fatigued. He also confessed that when she refused to return Dh100 to him, he smothered her with the pillow because she was shouting," the police officer testified.
A 27-year-old Egyptian worker testified that the deceased's friend phoned him and asked him to check on S.A. because she had been missing for three days. "I headed to her flat in the Al Nakheel area and saw the victim lying on the bed and she seemed motionless and breathless. I reported the police," claimed the worker.
The trial continues.
