Fujairah: A man was found hanging from the ceiling at his workplace in Fujairah International Airport on Saturday, a police official said on Sunday.

Brigadier Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Ka’abi, commander-in-chief of Fujairah Police, told Gulf News that the victim, a Filipino identified as J.D.N. in his 30s, was an employee at Fujairah International Airport. He was working in a service division at the food distribution section.

A police patrol, ambulance and personnel from the forensic laboratory rushed to the scene once they were notified about the incident. Brigadier Al Ka’abi said that the man was dead by the time officers reached the spot.

He allegedly hanged himself with a rope, which he had tightly secured to the office ceiling. The body was transferred to Al Fujairah Hospital for an autopsy and to complete legal procedures, Al Ka’abi said.

A source at the airport told Gulf News that the victim was a nice man. His colleagues expressed their grief at losing a good friend. They were shocked to find his body hanging at the workplace, the source added.

Preliminary investigation has ruled out criminal activity. The victim committed suicide due to family disputes, Al Ka’abi said.
