Abu Dhabi: The father of four year-old Nizaha Aalaa who died in her school bus last month expressed great appreciation for all those who helped him and his family during the grieving process.

Naseer Ahmad told members of the press that he was grateful to his employer, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco), and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec)’s Director General, Dr Amal Al Qubaisi for her frequent visits to their home.

The father also revealed that the extensive coverage by members of the press gave him and his family the most consolation due to their detailed revelation of facts.

He was speaking outside the courtroom where the second session in the case of his deceased daughter was held.

During the hearing, the bus supervisor, who is currently in prison under charges of negligence that led to the death, asked the court for a lawyer. Meanwhile, a new lawyer for the owner of the company that provided the Al Worood Academy Private School with the unlicensed school buses told the court that he was only recently appointed and needed time to look over the case files.

Therefore, the Public Prosecution did not present its case.

The session has been adjourned until December 14.
