Dubai: A bus driver denied seducing a schoolgirl by professing his love for her on Valentine's Day and bringing her presents.
The 30-year-old Pakistani driver pleaded not guilty to the charge of having sex with the 12-year-old compatriot when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.
The schoolgirl's seven-year-old sister claimed that the suspect, T.Y., and her sister "were in love and saw them kissing a number of times".
The younger girl told the public prosecutor that her sister and T.Y. used to spend time together "behind the bus's closed curtains".
The schoolgirl said she fell in love with T.Y. when he used to work as a driver at her school before he switched his job. "On Valentine's Day he confessed that he loved me and gifted me a pendant and wristwatch. We would talk over the phone after I had dropped out from school and I would be alone at home when my parents went to work. I used to meet him in the bus and our relationship evolved from touching, hugging and kissing to having sex with him four or five times."
The girl's 37-year-old father got suspicious after noticing the bus parked in front of his house one day. "I got suspicious because he had stopped driving my girl to school since he switched his job; my girl wasn't at home and later I noticed her sneaking inside from the back door."
