Dubai: An Emirati charged with premeditated killing "associated with the sexual assault" of a four-year-old Pakistani boy will be prosecuted before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday, Gulf News learnt on Sunday.

"The 30-year-old Emirati suspect will appear in courtroom four on Wednesday before Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir where he will be prosecuted for premeditated murder associated with a sexual assault. The jury, which also includes Judges Dr Ali Al Galadari and Mansour Al Awadhi, will level the charges against the suspect. According to the Criminal Procedure Law, the jury will hear prosecution witnesses after confronting the suspect with his charges. This case's proceedings are expected to be swift as per the requests of Dubai Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan," Chief Judge Ahmad Ebrahim Saif, Head of Dubai Criminal Courts, told Gulf News.

The 30-year-old suspect, R.R.R., allegedly committed what Al Humaidan described in a media statement on Thursday as a "gruesome murder". The crime shocked the UAE society and Dubai Public Prosecution has requested the Court of First Instance to punish him with the death sentence, said Al Humaidan.

"Wednesday's hearing is expected to adjourn to a close date pending the appointment of a lawyer to defend the suspect and to hear prosecution witnesses. Prosecutors are also expected to present their argument as well," Chief Judge Saif told Gulf News.

The Attorney General described the case as gruesome and said the crime happened on the first day of Eid Al Adha.
