Ras Al Khaimah: A 10-year-old boy found a man's body hanging from the ceiling of a house while playing in his neighbourhood.

The Emirati boy informed his father of the incident who called in the police.

The body of the Indian national was found in his house located near his work place in the Suhailah area here.

The 47-year-old labourer was officially pronounced dead after a police team and forensic experts arrived at the scene and examined the body. The body is kept at the police morgue for investigation.

Lieutenant Colonel Ya'aqoub Al Haddad, Chief of Al Digdaga police station. said the Police Operations Room received a report from an Emirati on finding the body hanging by a rope.

He said the investigation team found the body hanging from the ceiling close to a flight of stairs, which is believed to have been used in the apparent suicide. The son of the deceased, who works with his father for the same construction company, said that his father spent the day with him and their co-workers talking in his house.

The next day they tried to contact him but his mobile phone was switched off. In his statement to police, the victim's son said that his father did not suffer from any mental problems or work-related issues and led a normal life.

Police are still investigating the reasons for the suicide. An autopsy is proposed on the body.
