Abu Dhabi: The body of an Indian man that was found by Al Ain Police in a desert last week after being missing for three days was flown to India on Tuesday.
Although relatives suspect that he was murdered, police have remained tightlipped.
"We cannot give any details at this stage because it may affect the investigation," a police official told Gulf News yesterday.
Parappurath Moidu's body was found last Thursday. He had disappeared after he was taken to a car by a compatriot to discuss some urgent business the previous Sunday night.
Moidu came to Al Ain 38 years ago to join a business run by his two brothers, Hamsa Haji and Hydros Haji. Later he set up two restaurants and groceries.
"I was shocked to see his body the first time last week as there were head injuries," said Hydros Haji, the brother of the deceased.
"But, after keeping the body in freezer, he [the body] didn't look wounded yesterday," Haji said.
Haji and Moidu's son, Suhail, were on vacation in Kerala in India but rushed back to the UAE after hearing of the incident.
"We all are accompanying him [the body] to India by an Indian Airlines flight from Sharjah," he said.
