Dubai: Three Iranians arrested in Dubai in connection with raiding money exchanges in Sharjah will be referred to the Dubai Criminal Court for their role in at least two armed robberies in Sharjah last month.
Prosecution records reveal the suspects entered the country by sea and climbed the mountains of Fujairah after eluding border guards. They possessed two guns which they later used in the robberies. A.A., 25, who masterminded the robberies, and his accomplice, A.G., 28, told prosecutors that they planned their operation while they were still in Iran.
The suspects covered their faces with stockings when they robbed the first exchange centre in Sharjah. In the second attack, they robbed an exchange house at the industrial area in Sharjah.
Dubai Police who received a tip-off that the suspects were staying in Al Baraha, raided their apartment and arrested the three suspects. The third suspect, A.R., 26, denied theft charges. Police found the two guns at the apartment but there was no trace of the stolen money.
