Dubai: Dubai International Arbitration Centre (Diac), a Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) initiative, hosted a round-table meeting with members of the judiciary and the International Bar Association (IBA) on Saturday.

The IBA Programme, in collaboration with the Diac round table, came ahead of the IBA annual forum, which is being held in Dubai until November 4. It is the first time it has been held in the Middle East.

Dr Ahmad Saeed Bin Hazim, Director-General of Dubai Courts, said: "Arbitration has become an efficient way to settle disputes. It has become more widespread in all kinds of contracts…"

Dr Nayla Comair Obaid, Vice-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee, said: "The importance of this topic is it highlights the integration and interaction between the state judiciary and arbitration."
