Ajman: Ajman Police recently launched an anti-theft initiative to protect businesses from theft.

The initiative was launched in collaboration with Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department.

Major Raad Obaid Al Za’abi, Director of Al Shaml police station, said the growing number of all types of thefts — including scams — had prompted the police to launch the initiative.

He urged business owners to follow a number of safety measures to guard against crime. Tips include making sure all windows and doors are shut securely, storing safety deposit boxes in a safe place, not leaving large sums of money or valuables in shops and installing surveillance cameras.

“We continue to urge business owners to tighten their security and install security cameras to prevent such crimes from taking place. It is also important to install sufficient lights in the area so that police patrols will find it easier to stop any suspicious activities,” Major Al Za’abi said.

Ajman Police will also spread the message via the media. The police have also started distributing leaflets in Arabic and English to business owners, which include tips to guard against all kinds of crime.

The Municipality and Planning Department will give business owners a copy of the leaflets when they renew their trade licence, he said.

Major Al Za’abi urged business owner to report thefts quickly to help police catch offenders as quickly as possible.
