Abu Dhabi: The Narcotics Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police has launched an awareness campaign with the theme "Drugs are harmful" to educate young people about the types of drugs and risks they pose on the individual, family and community.

Colonel Hamad Ahmad Al Hamadi, director, CID, said the campaign targets youth and students at secondary school level, to enlighten them about the risks of narcotics, which can lead the youth to commit crimes.

He lauded the cooperation of the Abu Dhabi Educational Zone to contribute to the anti-narcotics campaign, being a major partner to the CID to enlighten and reform youth.

Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Al Darmeki, head of the anti-narcotics section, said the campaign includes a number of sessions, among others, holding of lectures for students and guardians about the drugs and their types and risks.
