Sharjah: The anti-narcotics department at Sharjah Police has arrested six men after a prisoner who received a pardon on the occasion of Ramadan was stabbed with a knife shortly after being released from Sharjah Jail, a Sharjah Police official told Gulf News.

Emirati M.M, 32, left Sharjah Jail where he was serving a jail term over drug charges.

But before he could celebrate with his family, he was stabbed by a group of men on his way home. The victim received 12 stab wounds and was admitted to Al Qasimi Hospital where his condition was described to be critical,

M.M. is currently in Rashid Hospital and is under constant watch of a police guard.

Police said it is believed that the victim was stabbed by a group who wanted revenge.

Gulf News has learnt from sources close to the victim that the men who stabbed the victim wanted to take revenge because during police interrogation the victim led them to his partners and they also landed in jail.
