Worker jailed for groping woman shopper

Dubai: A worker was jailed for three months for molesting an administrative assistant and groping her backside while she was shopping at a mall in Dubai.

The 34-year-old Indian worker, M.B., walked behind the Filipina assistant between the aisles and when she bend over to pick some goods, he groped her.

When the defendant showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance, he pleaded guilty and admitted he molested the woman.

However he asked the court for mercy. “Yes I am guilty I groped her backside,” said M.B. when entering his plea.

According to the primary ruling, the accused will be deported after serving the punishment.

Prosecutors charged the defendant with sexually molesting the Filipina shopper at the mall.

The 37-year-old woman shopper said the incident took place when she was walking between the shelves at the mall around 1:30pm.

“I was picking some goods from the hypermarket. I felt the defendant touching my backside with his palm. Then I heard someone shout and the security guard at the mall got hold of the defendant,” claimed the Filipina.

A policeman said he was on duty when he was dispatched to the mall’s police office to check what happened.

“I was informed the defendant molested the woman and touched her. The shopper was walking between two aisles when the accused came from behind and groped her,” said the policeman.

The ruling became final against the defendant since he did not appeal.
