Dubai: A student refused to cooperate with Dubai Police when he was found completely naked in a car while he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

An Emirati sergeant claimed that Dubai Police had to borrow a friend’s trousers and hand it over to the 36-year-old Emirati student to wear before taking him into custody on December 2.

“We found the suspect, M.O., in an abnormal condition and a strong smell of liquor came from the car seat where he was seated naked,” said the sergeant.

Prosecution records said the defendant was caught in possession of different drugs and he tested positive for drugs and liquor.

Drugs Prosecution charged the defendant with possessing heroin, amphetamine, methamphetamine, diazepam and phenobarbital for consumption purposes.

He was additionally accused of consuming hashish, driving a car under the influence of liquor and drugs, reckless driving and wrecking the car and an iron barrier. He was also charged with driving without a licence and without obtaining the permission of the car’s owner to drive it.

The defendant pleaded guilty when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

He confessed to all his accusations except the charge of causing damages to the car.

The police sergeant claimed to prosecutors: “My colleague and I rushed to Ras Al Khor where a group of Pakistani and Syrian men claimed that M.O. was sitting in their friend’s car. The men told us that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and refused to get out of the vehicle… he was sitting inside naked, drugged and drunk. We lent him a pair of pants and took him to the police station.”

An Emirati anti-narcotics corporal testified that they found different drugs in the car that was parked behind a shopping centre.

Records cited the defendant admitting that he consumed drugs in Mirdif shortly before he was arrested in his brother’s vehicle.
