Ras Al Khaimah: A housemaid was on Thursday sentenced to three years in jail followed by deportation by the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court after she pleaded guilty to charges of physically abusing her employer’s four-year-old boy and endangering his life.
The accused, a Filipina in her 40s, was arrested and interrogated after a complaint was filed by her Emirati sponsor and father of the boy.
The case dates back to a few months when the sponsor suspected that his housemaid was physically abusing his son. The family’s suspicions were aroused after they noticed that the child was extremely scared of the maid. The boy also had bruises on different parts of his body. The family decided to set a trap for the maid and monitored her behaviour in ther absence.They caught her beating the child and trying to strangle him in their absence.
After arresting the maid, police referred the case to the Public Prosecution.
