Dubai: A truck driver who found a massage card on his windshield and dialled for a masseuse told a court he ended up being attacked by two men with a sword and a baseball bat. The 30-year-old Indian driver, K.S., said that a Chinese woman answered the phone and guided him to a massage parlour in International City.

“I went there and knocked on the door several times, when nobody answered, I left. I was walking towards my truck when two men blocked my way and attacked me with a sword and a baseball bat for unknown reasons,” the man said according to his prosecution statement.

An Emirati soldier, who happened to be driving on the street where the alleged assault took place, called the police.

According to prosecution records, CCTV caught five men walking out of the building and chasing K.S. prior to assaulting him. Two men were seen carrying a sword and a baseball bat.

Police identified one of the men, a 28-year-old Vietnamese carpenter, L.T. who was arrested.

Prosecutors accused L.T. of running a brothel and bringing in clients to the massage parlour (that was advertised on the card found by K.S.)

“Yes, I am guilty. I did run a brothel and brought in clients to the flat,” said L.T. before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.

“What do you request from the court?” presiding judge Urfan Omar asked the suspect.

“I want to return to Vietnam… I am seeking leniency,” he replied.

Prosecutors said L.T. ran a brothel along with two other suspects, who remain at large. Records said the Vietnamese suspect and his accomplices flew in Vietnamese women to work in the parlour as prostitutes and brought clients there as well.

Court records have shown that prosecutors are investigating the sword and baseball attack in a separate case.

The Indian driver testified that the incident happened when he went to have dinner at a restaurant in May 2013.

“When I returned to my truck, I found a massage parlour card left on the windshield. I dialled the number and asked the woman who replied if they had women available. She said yes and gave me the directions. When no one answered the door, I went back. Then I was assaulted… some bystanders intervened to save me from the assailants, who absconded,” K.S. told prosecutors.

A policeman testified that CCTV footage showed that five men were involved in the incident.

“We raided the brothel and arrested L.T. The driver identified him at the police line- up,” he said.

A ruling will be heard soon.
